What could you do at 2 years old?

Every week we have a Formal Snack on Wednesdays which usually includes a birthday walk. It's a great time to sing a song with the children about how the earth goes around the sun 365 days and then that person is 1 year older as they literally walk with a globe around the sun 1 time.

Formal Snack time is a time for the children to practice their manners just like they were sitting in front of a queen or king. "Yes please." "No thank you" Chewing with their mouths closed, napkin on the lap etc. Believe it or not these simple manners when put into action let the children stand a little taller if you will. They are no longer "kids" they are people who know who they are and are rising to the occasion. If one knows who they are, and how to handle their body, the window of learning is reached much easier.

Today was Formal Snack day and we had a birthday walk. With each time the song was sung the child walked around the sun. At 2 years old the child who was turning 4 was asked the following question.

"What were some things you learned at 2 years old Amanda?"

"Oh I learned alot of things."

"Can you tell us a few?"

"Oh ya, I could....crawl..."

"Anything else you like to tell us what you did at 2 years old?"

Smiling big, very proud of herself she said, "Oh! I could walk! And talk! I could walk and talk at the same time! Just like my Mom."

What could you do?
